Differential diagnosis and treatment of small subdural effusion in children.

چکیده
Twenty infants with peripheral low density areas over the frontal lobes in CT scans that resembled cortical atrophy or early communicating hydrocephalus are reported. Most cases presented minimal developmental retardation and a slightly bulging fon tanelle. In many cases, peripheral hypodensity over the frontal lobes disappeared and the infants' development eventually reached normal levels without operations. The lesion might be called "infantile benign subdural effusion" and should be treated conservatively. Two illustrative cases are presented and the differential diagnosis is discussed.

متن کاملBurkitt’s Lymphoma Mimicking a Subacute Subdural Hematoma: a Case Report Linfoma de Burkitt simulando um hematoma subdural subagudo: relato de caso
BL is a B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that may affect multiple organs. It presents predominantly in children and is one of the most rapidly growing tumors in humans requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment.1 Dural metastases mimicking a SDH are rare.2 We describe a case of central nervous system involvement characterized by subdural effusion radiologically similar to subacute SDH. We also revi...
متن کاملSymptomatic Unilateral Subdural Effusion as the First Presentation of Suprasellar Arachnoid Cyst
Background and Importance: Arachnoid cysts are benign nontumoral lesions that are usually found incidentally in brain imaging. Suprasellar Arachnoid Cysts (SSACs) are rare. They can cause hydrocephalus and increased intracranial pressure, lower cranial nerve impairment and endocrine disorder. Sometimes arachnoid cysts become complicated by subdural hematoma/hygroma. Case Presentation: We...
متن کاملSubdural haematoma in an adult after air encephalography.
Air encephalography in the absence of a spaceoccupying lesion of the brain is usually a harmless but unpleasant investigation that is necessary in the differential diagnosis of organic dementias and neurological syndromes of uncertain origin. It is known that subdural effusions may follow encephalography in children (Smith and Crothers, 1950). The development of a subdural haematoma in an adult...
متن کاملA Practical Guide to Differential Diagnosis of Small B Cell Lymphomas
